Grey Seals at Donna Nook

Posted on 12th October 2015

November is fast approaching and that means grey Seal breeding time at Donna Nook in Lincolnshire, England.

Peak activity is mid to late November, it is also the peak time for visitor activity. To avoid the crowds go during the week.

Most mums with small children will remain near the parking lot next to the sand dunes. To get some great pictures walk out to the edge of the tide, (about half a mile), less people, more opportunity and some great backgrounds.

Lenses in the range from wide angle to telephoto are all needed depending on the perspective you wish to capture.

While taking snaps of the cute pups, be alert for mum returing from a fishing trip, she bites and people have had to visit the local hospital to get patched up.

Warm clothing and a pair of welly boots are the dress of the day, it can be cold out there.

Finally check the tide time before going out as when in comes back in, its fast. Unles you wish to spend time on a diminishing sand bank with lots of biting seals.
